My Fun Weekend

It's been a while, but I had an interesting weekend and thought was writing to a friend and decided to blog it as well.  Hope yours was a little more enjoyable than mine!

So, I thought I'd update you on my fun outing weekend.  Nathanyal stayed home from school last Wednesday sick and then Charys called and said she wasn't feeling well either.  Ryan was home and I was cleaning and he said unless you have a temp or throw up you have to stay there (she tends to be the one that is sick whenver anyone else is).  But about 12:30 Linda calls and says she threw up.  Funny thing, she seemed okay the rest of the day and even ate at night.  I was a little suspicious.  Thursday night, Ryan feels yucky.  Friday morning when excercising I feel funny, but figure it is in my head....feel worse as the day goes on.  Mistakenly eat Arby's for lunch.....Ryan gets home from taking Shiloh kids climbing.....sick.....midafternoon, I lose my Arby's.  Okay, so Charys really was sick.  So, for the first time in our married life we both have the stomach flu at the same time.  REALLY STINKS!  Clare is home with Charys to play and I had to make bread for the shower that I obviously was not going to be able to go to.  Still waiting to see if there is any fall out from the tainted bread I made.:)  So far so good.  I rally and make dinner for everyone and Charys goes home with Clare which was really an act of love on my part because I REALLY  wanted her to stay and help with Noel.  Sue G. had company so I couldn't call her and all my friends at church are at the shower.  Well, thank you Lord Noel was better than she has been in qutie some time and played nicely.  She did pull all the wipes out of the container a couple times, but hey, it was entertaining and then she'd stuff them back in.  We survived and while feeling tired the rest of the weekend we were better by Saturday.  However, we didn't feel 100% and decided not to waste money on a baby sitter and a meal we weren't really into and canceled our date as well.:(  But there was still church that I was looking forward to after being home with a sick Noel last week and missing Wednesday because of sick kids.  So, Sunday I"m picking up the house getting ready and the a/c kicks on and I catch a whiff of something.  Oh no.....I have a feeling Noel threw up last night in her crib.  Took a shower and went to confirm my suspicions and yep....she did.  On the bright side.......she didn't cry and wake me up and I got a full night sleep!!  So,  I spent yet another Sunday at home.  I was able to clean the house and catch up on the laundry all before noon when it got rather warm and I started smelling this terrible stench coming from our bathroom and the cabinets in the kitchen.  Yes, some rodent (and I'm hoping a small one) found our poison and ate it and died......in the walls.....again.  So, now our house reeks of dead mouse and while I'm thankful that it isn't in the house running around, it sure does stink!!!  So we are burning candles and hoping that it wansn't a rat which will linger for a LONG time.  And I'm not sure how Tiger is doing (our cat that got hit by a car last week).  She is eating and drinking and laying around a lot, but not going to the bathroom....that can't be good, so we're taking her back to the vet.  So, how does that verse go..."...a man plans his ways but the Lord is ultimately in charge."  or something along those lines.  Maybe we'll try again for this weekend.  Well, I'm off to find some more candles to burn!!  Hope YOU had an enjoyable weekend.

Zoo

It has been a long time since we have gotten to go to the zoo.  Before Elijah was born, I think, which explains his excitement when we said we were going to go!  We had a great time!  The weather was perfect, thanks to the clouds and rain that we had in the morning.  The rain quit right when we got there and it was just right!IMG_0456

Here is a picture of some of my monkeys!!

It is hard to see in the picture, but the yellow and blue things are poison frogs.  They are usually in a glass aquarium and they are poisonous, but most of their toxicity comes from a certain ant they eat in the wild.  They are not fed this in the zoo so they are much less poisonous.  They said they probably are slightly poisonous still, but not like they normally are.  It was really neat to be able to see them so close.  You could even reach out and touch them, if you were so inclined.....we were not!  They are so beautiful and bright in their colors!!  IMG_0427

Noel also enjoyed her first trip to the zoo, and spent a lot of time walking or running.  She liked being able to pet the animals in the petting zoo!  It was great family time and as always the zoo is just a reminder of the amazing creativity of our creator!

Vacation

Really, I thought I would be a better blogger than I am, but I find that time just gets away from me and I don't sit down and blog like I thought I would.  I suppose when life slows down in the winter again my blogging might pick up a bit.  Also, the computer that has our pictures on it goes to work with Ryan everyday so when I would sometimes blog I think I'll just wait until he gets home and add some pics and then I don't take the time to do it.  Anyway, Ryan took last week off.  We'd originally thought about going to Michigan, but with the high gas prices and when Noel cried 2 of the 4 hours to camp we decided to just stay home and do some things around here.  So, that is what we did last week and we had a great time.  It was tiring, but so nice to not travel very far.  IMG_0354a IMG_0304

Trying to get five kids to look and smile all at the same time can be quite a challenge.  This is the best we could do.  All the parks in the town we live are really kind of yucky, but the best thing they have going for them is that they all have a creek that goes through them and this is where we hang out the whole time!  We caught many crawdads, snails and attmepted to catch fish, but they are just too quick! IMG_0302 IMG_0371

The highlight of the 4th of July for Noel was the bubble machine that someone brought!  And Elijah who talked about fireworks all day ended up sitting on the porch in someones lap because he was scarred!  Maybe next year!  Hope your 4th was as enjoyable as ours!

Ad-bi-Ja

This has very little to do about anything, but since I started a blog to record and keep a record of some of the funnier things my kids say and do I wanted to add this before I forgot.  Elijah was in here sitting on my lap and Noel came in and upon seeing Elijah on my lap she, of course, wanted up as well.  It is amazing to me how quickly this sibling jealousy thing can take a hold of them (she's only 15 months).  So, she starts pushing to climb up and Elijah hangs on to his place and then Noel says, " Ad-bi-ja"  as she is pulling up on me.  Well, Elijah must have taken offense maybe it was the tone in which she said it, because he looked at me and said, "Noel called me Ad-bi-Ja"!  Well, who knows maybe he can understand what she is saying, and given the situation, she probably was calling him a name!  Who knows, but I thought it was funny!

Graduations, birthdays, and camping

Okay, so it has been ages since I posted anything.  I keep thinking I'll download pictures to share with you all, but by the time I get around to doing that it might be September, so I decided to just bite the bullet and blog pictureless, not as fun, I know....sorry!  As always the end of the school year is super busy!  Katelyn graduated from Kindergarten....sniffle, sigh!  We have to go to two high school graduations of kids in our youth group.  One is tonight and it is pouring rain, but unless it is lightening they plan to have it.  Can't say I"m looking forward to that too much, but I get to go out to eat just Ryan and I and then go, so I'll endure the rain for a date!  Nathanyal's birthday is Sunday and Charys' birthday is Monday.  They are one year and a day apart.  At the time, I was glad they weren't born on the same day, but now I wish they were.  I have done two parties two days in a row, but that is....well, stessful - not to mention expensive!  Now we try and zigzag party years and whoever doesn't get the party gets a friend to spend the night or something.  This year Nathanyal had his party last weekend and Charys gets to take a friend to camp with us for our church family camp.  We'll also have a party with Ryan's folks tomorrow and then sometime my dad and then my mom will come and.....see how these things just keep draggin on!!  And then there is camp that we leave for on Monday.  Should be fun, but tiring!  Still the kids love to camp so I know that it will be some good family time and there are lots of college age kids going so they usually are good at entertaining!  I'm looking forward to the summer, but as usual I'm sure it will just fly by! That pretty much is the goings on in the Galdamez household!  Hope you all enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
